Skandhika

The House

Handwoven heritage,
everyday to heirloom.

Skandhika is a small Indian atelier that lives between the loom and the woman who wears its cloth. From easy handloom cottons to heirloom silks, every saree we offer is woven by hand in India.

I.

The weaves we carry

Kanchi pattu, Dharmavaram, Kadiyal, Mysore crepe, tussar, Kota, tissue and organza, Jamdani, Kalamkari and handloom cotton. Most of the house is everyday and occasion wear at honest prices, with a growing set of premium silks.

II.

A saree, worn first by Shlokha

Every drape that enters the house is styled and worn by Shlokha before it is offered. You see the saree the way it truly falls — not the way it lies folded on a shelf.

III.

The house tends, always

Guidance on the drape. A word on the jewellery. Careful shipping in a silk-lined box. And, years later, re-veiling and restoration when the saree asks for it.

The continuing story

Written slowly.
Worn for a lifetime.

Skandhika began with a woman who could not bring herself to fold away the saree her grandmother had worn. The house exists to make handwoven sarees part of everyday life again — and to keep a few heirlooms in reach.

We release in small series and never on a calendar. If a saree is not on the loom in the right season, we wait for the season. If a border cannot be woven in the weight we promised, we do not weave it thinner. The house is small on purpose.
