Questions to the house
Anything you might
wish to ask.
Answered in the same voice we would use in the atelier.
- Where are the sarees woven?
- Every Skandhika saree is handwoven in India — from everyday handlooms to heirloom silks. The range includes Kanchi pattu, Dharmavaram, Kadiyal, Mysore crepe, tussar, Kota, tissue and organza, Jamdani, Kalamkari and handloom cotton. Each listing names its weave.
- What kind of zari do you use?
- It depends on the saree. Some of our silks carry traditional zari; many everyday and mid-range pieces use tested or copper zari, and our cottons often have none. Each product page says what the saree carries — we never call tested zari pure.
- How long is each saree?
- Standard length is 6.3 metres for the saree with an attached 0.8-metre blouse piece. Any variation is noted on the product page.
02.Chapter II
The three lifecycles
- What does Available mean?
- The saree is woven, inspected, and resting in our atelier. It ships within two working days of your order.
- What does Coming Soon mean?
- The saree is on the loom or with our finisher. You may Pre-Book to reserve it; it ships as soon as the loom releases the drape, usually within four to eight weeks.
- What does Notify Me mean?
- The last of that drape has left the house. If the saree can be woven again, we will write to you the moment it returns to the loom.
03.Chapter III
Wearing & keeping
- How should I care for a handwoven saree?
- Dry-clean only, with a saree specialist. Store in a soft cotton mulmul cloth — never plastic. Air the saree once every few months. Zari darkens gently over the years — it is meant to.
- Do you offer drape guidance?
- Yes. Every order includes a short note on the drape best suited to the saree, and Shlokha is available on request for styling counsel by email.
- Can Skandhika re-veil an old saree?
- In most cases, yes. Write to the concierge with photographs and we will tell you honestly what the saree needs and whether the house can help.
04.Chapter IV
Orders, shipping, returns
- Do you ship outside India?
- Not at present — the house ships only to addresses within India. Delivery is ₹99, free above ₹3,999. Please see the Shipping page for the full note.
- Can I return a saree?
- We do not accept general returns. A return or replacement is accepted only for damage (a tear, stain or border damage), a wrong piece, or a missing item — and only with a continuous, uncut video of the parcel being opened for the first time. Request it within seven days of delivery, with the saree unworn and in its original packaging. Pre-booked and bespoke pieces are not returnable. Please see the Returns page.
- How do I reach the concierge?
- Write to concierge@skandhika.com, or message the House on WhatsApp at +91 9866751122. We reply within one working day, usually the same day.
